Welcome Message

Welcome to the official website of the National Mang-Hyang Cemetery.
This cemetery was established to provide a place of rest for overseas Koreans who left their homeland during the Japanese colonial period, enduring unimaginable hardships and longing for their country until their passing. It is a sacred space where the unfulfilled hope of returning home is realized, and a historical reminder for future generations of the pain and lessons of lost sovereignty.
Today, more than 13,500 souls rest here, including those who were forcibly conscripted or drafted under Japanese rule, Korean students in Japan who voluntarily joined the military during the Korean War, victims of Japanese military sexual slavery, and Sakhalin Koreans.
At the National Mang-Hyang Cemetery, we remain committed to honoring these individuals by ensuring they find peace in their homeland. We also strive to provide all visitors with a solemn and respectful environment where they can pay their respects and reflect on the history and sacrifices of overseas Koreans.
Thank you for your interest and support.
